Ever given up on a dream, only to have it come knocking 23 years later? That’s what happened to me and my guitar.
I gave up the guitar 23 years ago because I felt I just didn’t have a “gift.”
Me and the guitar books and the occasional “guitar” friend who gave me tips wasn’t enough.
So after 3 years of daily practice, I handed my guitar over to a friend who played beautifully. It was bittersweet, and my desire to play never faded.
So, in 2022, I decided enough was enough. Who wants to die with the music still inside them?!
Bought a beautiful guitar and dove into the world of online guitar learning.
Yea, those didn’t exist 23 years ago!
Three years later, I’m still going strong. I’m playing daily and loving every minute of it. I’ve moved beyond just learning my favorite songs and now have a private tutor in Nashville who is guiding me deeper into fingerpicking and music theory.
The journey has become less about solo practice and more about connection; I’m now recording songs to share with a guitar community I’ve joined and am hoping to start playing with others soon.
Want to know the most surprising part of this journey?
Friends and clients, without knowing about my return to guitar, started noticing a change in me — both personally and professionally.
One long-time friend and client even replied to a monthly newsletter, saying she couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but she recognized a shift, something different about how I was showing up.
Seems reconnecting with the guitar also ignited a part of myself I didn’t even know I was missing!
